Balsa Fry




Hook: Long shank bronze hook
Body: Carved balsa wood body, colored with markers and varnished
Eyes: Painted
Tail: Brown polypropylene yarn

Balsa wood is split and a small groove filed in the split where the hook shank will go. The balsa wood is then epoxied to the hook shank. The body is then carved, filed and sanded to the desired shape. The body is colored using permanent marking pens to the desired colors and varnished with a thin coat of varnish. The eyes are painted on. The tail of polypropylene yarn is added to finish the fly.
